As part of Spider Gym MMA, there are programs other than Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that we offer. Each program is directed by an expert in that area.
Our no-gi class is based upon the techniques and principles of traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with adjustments being made to compensate for the lack of a uniform (gi). In submission grappling, you learn various grips: the wrists, back of the neck, ankle, knee and elbow. These all change when the Gi is removed. Additionally, students will learn take-downs, position transitions escapes, reversals, defensive and offensive joint locks, chokes and other submission holds–all specific to no-gi.
Our curriculum focuses on fighting in the clinch and on the ground. The no-gi program helps students develop skills that are useful in real self-defense situations as well as in a competitive environment.
